The Summer Palace is a must see when visiting Beijing. The palace used to be the imperial garden of the Qing Dynasty and consists of over 3,000 palaces, halls, pavilions and corridors in different types of architecture. The main attractions within the palace are Longevity Hill and Kunming Lake. It is located in the northwestern suburb of Beijing, about 10 km away from the downtown area. It has a total area of 290 hectares and three-quarters of it is water.

mài kè: wǒ xiăng qù yóu lăn yī xià yí hé yuán.
麦克： 我想去游览一下颐和园。 
Mike:  I want to visit the Summer Palace.

lì li: yí hé yuán hěn zhí dé qù.
丽丽： 颐和园很值得去。 
Lili:  It's worth going to the Summer Palace. 

mài kè: tīng shuō yí hé yuán hěn měi, yǒu shān yǒu shuĭ.
麦克： 听说颐和园很美，有山有水。 
Mike:  It is said that the Summer Palace is very beautiful, with a hill and a lake.

lì li: hái yǒu cháng láng, shí qī kǒng qiáo, fó xiāng gé děng.
丽丽： 还有长廊、十七孔桥、佛香阁等。 
Lili:  And there are the Long Corridor, the Seventeen-Arched Bridge, and the Tower of the Fragnant Buddha, and many more.


mài kè: wǒ men míng tiān jiù qù ba.
麦克： 我们明天就去吧。 
Mike:  Let's go tomorrow.

lì li:  wǒ jiàn yì qí chē qù, hăo ma?
丽丽： 我建议骑车去，好吗？ 
Lili:  I suggest we go by bicycle.

mài kè: yí hé yuán zhēn bú kuì shì “bó wù guăn gōng yuán.”
麦克： 颐和园真不愧是“博物馆公园。” 
Mike:  It really deserves to be called a “museum park.”

lì li: lái bĕi jīng bú qù yí hé yuán zhēn shì tài yí hàn le. 
丽丽： 来北京不去颐和园真是太遗憾了。 
Lili:  If you are in Beijing, it's a pity if you don't visit the Summer Palace.
