Musical May holiday weekend

May holiday 2009 will offer visitors to China a great opportunity to indulge in some local Chinese independent music. May 1,2,3 will feature some great love music action in Beijing and Shanghai..

Beijing’s Modern Sky record label will host the first Strawberry Music Festival at Tongzhou Canal Park in the city. Bands playing over the three day event will include rock and indie acts from China and overseas, as well as famed Taiwan songstress Joanna Wang. Beijing rock venue D-22 will also celebrate its third anniversary over the holiday weekend with three nights of shows featuring the crème of China’s rock scene.

Further south, the MIDI Music festival in Zhenjiang, Jiangsu Province boasts Chinese rock legend Cui Jian as well as a number of local and international acts just a few hours journey from Shanghai.
