An exceptional solar eclipse will be seen across central China on the afternoon of January 15. This will be the first annular eclipse in China in 22 years, and is predicted to be the longest to be seen from earth this millennium.
Though people in Shanghai will see no more than a partial eclipse, the sun will be partially obscured whilst setting – making for a breathtaking view nevertheless. Experts are hoping that the cloud cover that spoiled the grounds-eye view of last summer’s solar eclipse will not hamper next week’s event.
People in Yunnan, Sichuan, Hubei, Shandong, Chongqing and Henan will enjoy the best possible view of the eclipse, experts have predicted.
