A week of heavy rainfall has put a dampener on the Shanghai summer, with some parts of the city reporting over 300 millimeters of rainfall in just seven days.
Quarters of Shanghai’s Minhang District received nearly 25% of their regular annual rainfall period during last week. At times rainfall seriously affected traffic and departures from the city’s two international airports.
Though the unusually high rainfall has proven to be an inconvenience, residents have been pleased by the accompanying cool weather. Unseasonably mild temperatures of 30-32 degrees centigrade have taken the edge of what is usually the hottest season of the year.
