Service and consumption on the Three Gorges Cruise
1. Meals on board
Three meals a day are provided on board. A Chinese and western food buffet will be served at breakfast, and Chinese food mainly for lunch and supper. Part of the western food may be altered due to your reservation.
Lunchtime is about noon and dinnertime is at 19:00 or later, depending on the tour schedule. Normally passengers have meals together. You will be informed of the exact time by the cruise broadcast.
If you have special dietary requirements, please let us know when you make your reservation and we will do our very best to meet your special needs.
Even though there is 24-hour room service on board the cruise, for your convenience, please let us know beforehand what your special requirements are.
The meals do not include alcoholic beverages. If you would like wine or liquor, it is an additional expense. There is a limited quantity of free drinks.
Taking food or drinks into the restaurants, bars, or entertainment centers is prohibited.
2. Drinking water on the cruise
The water in the Yangtze River is turbid and sandy, so it is important to have water-making equipment so as to get clean and sanitary water for drinking and washing. Currently, on the Yangtze River star cruise, advanced equipment is available to purify, disinfect, and filter the water to make quality drinking water. However, the water for your daily use is not potable.
3. Luggage service
There is no limit to the amount of luggage passengers can take on board. You can find a luggage carrier in your room. If your room is not big enough, it provides you luggage-keeping service. It also provides service to help tourists move the luggage in and out. The price is 1-2 dollars/piece and payable in cash.
4. Laundry service
We have special laundry bags and forms for you in the room. Complete the form of what you want washed and then put them in the bag. We will take them to the laundry department when we clean your room and will return your clothes to you at the time that you request.
5. Smoking on board
Smoking is prohibited in public places by Chinese law. If you want to smoke, please go to the deck or to the smoking room. Some cruises have non-smoking floors and rooms. If you need a smoking room, please let us know when you make the reservation.
6. Medical care on board
On board the cruise there is a clinic and qualified doctor. Extra medical expenses incurred on the cruise are not included in the package. The doctor also visits the patient in his or her room, upon request.
7. Telephone and fax
Cell phones with GMS mode can be used along the entire Three Gorges area. In some places, you can also use CDMA mode cells. So you can keep in touch with your family and friends anytime, anywhere.
If you find that you are unable to make a long distance call, head to the business center, as this service is provided.
8. Business center
Telecom, telegraph, and fax are available here. On the cruise, there are satellite phones, fax, and cell phones. In addition, copiers, computers, and typewriters can be rented. Secretarial service is also provided.
9. Conferences and parties
If you are going to have a conference on board the cruise, please let us know when making the reservation. We will let you know if the date requested is available and what other information we need to begin making arrangements.
If you and your friends are interested in having a party, please contact the reception on board the cruise to confirm the details of place, decoration, service, and expense.
10. Shopping
There are shops on board the cruise that sell food and other daily necessities. However, the selection is not large, so it is best to try to prepare everything before traveling.
Along the scenic spots of Three Gorges, there are a lot of stores selling craftworks and souvenirs. Don’t be afraid to try your bargaining skills, as it is expected!
Please be particularly careful while shopping, especially if you are unfamiliar with the products.
